Four weeks ago at this time, I was sitting next to my mom.
We were watching her favorite programs, on Monday night TV.

It was not a normal night in front of the television though.

By then, she was seriously ill, under heavy doses of pain medication.
The cancer was taking its final toll.
It was clear she didn't have much longer to live.

This was her final brief time of enjoyment before the end.
Though I am not sure I could really call it "enjoyment,"
she managed a brief occasional chuckle.

This was but a temporary escape, as we sat side by side.
Now it is just a cherished memory of a final time together.

I actually don't watch much TV, but
I'm sitting here watching the television alone tonight.
My family happens to be off doing other things.

I guess I really don't feel "all alone" though. 
That's because I'm not just watching TV.
I am reliving some very precious memories.
