The Right Choice  September 25, 2006

It's been close to a year since Mom died.

I've been looking back on last year, remembering all that was
happening in Mom's life, as she approached the end of her
days here on earth.

It all seemed to happen so fast.
The cancer spread so quickly.
Her death seemed to come sooner than I'd ever imagined possible.

Over the past 11 months, I have known other dear friends
who have lost a loved one to death.

I think I can speak for all of us, in saying just how much we would
love to even have just one more moment with that person we lost.

The amount of time I spent with my mom in the year
before she died was such a cherished time.
I had to make some tough choices and tradeoffs
to free up my time to be out of town that much to see her.

What a gift that was to me.  I know it meant a lot to her.
But what it meant to me was beyond describing.

I made the right choice.
I see that even more clearly now, than I did then.

Life is so full of choices.   There seems to always be more
to do, than there is time to do it all.   Thus we have to make
tradeoffs.  We have too choose how we spend our time.

Choose wisely.   We don't get a chance to go back and do it over again.
