Cool rain gently drifts from the heavens.
I gaze upward and feel the chill of each raindrop.

Tomorrow, I plan a return visit to the town where my mom and dad are buried.
It's a long drive.  It will be a chance to think, to reflect, and remember.
That will mark the passing of one year since mom died, and dad died so long ago.

I really miss them both.

Life has been full for me over the past year, and
The deepest pain of the loss has softened a bit.

Mom and dad, I will always miss you.

Over the past year, I have known several dear friends who have lost cherished loved ones... a son, a mother, a father...

As I reflect on my own loss, as well as their losses,
I am reminded that none of us are alone in this experience here on Earth.
We share in a common experience, actually a truly wondrous experience.

Pain and joy and love and sorrow all seem to be intertwined in our human experience.

And so it is with the rain, as I watch it fall.
Even in the midst of a cloud-covered sky,
The sun's light still finds a way to make it through.

Though I cannot see the sun's rays,
I see the evidence of its shining down on this world.

The glow filters through the clouds, and mixes with the raindrops.

In this time of remembrance, I smile at the thought...
The sun is always shining, somewhere up above.

So it is with our loved ones we hold so dear in our hearts.

Though we may feel the drops of rain, they now LIVE
Where the sun is always shining, somewhere up above.
