Joshua

It just doesn't seem like it's supposed to happen this way.
We watched with tears in our eyes,
As our dear friends leaned into the casket
And kissed their precious son goodbye.
As rain fell during the day,
I wondered if they were God's tears.
Though a time of sorrow and profound sense of loss,
If I were to choose one word today
That best describes what I witnessed
In this funeral celebration
I would say that word is "love".
What a tender expression of love it all was.
And such is life. It seems it's all about love, really.
What gives our life meaning is the love we have experienced
And the love that we've given.
Is it no wonder that Jesus said the greatest commandment
Was to love God and love others?
To love is to be vulnerable to this pain of loss.
If we see this pain that is felt at times like this as a way of
loving,
It is somehow a little more tolerable.
There is no doubt that Joshua was loved by many.
A life well-lived is not measured in days.
It is measured in love, given and received.
Joshua's life was well-lived, and a blessing to many.
