Feeling vs. Showing  Dec 08, 2005

As I was driving today, my mom came to mind.  It's now been about a month and a half since her death.

I was thinking about what it means to love someone, and what it means to lose that someone.   I realized that the pain that I feel is not just a sense of loss of someone dear to me.   Part of the void I feel is due to my inability to express my love to her.   It's not just a matter of "missing her."

Yes, I can still feel love for her after she is gone.  But what exactly is love?

Is love just a feeling?   Or is it something you do

I started to realize how much I miss being able to do things to express my love to her.  Just "feeling love" for her feels sort of incomplete.

That also reminds me of the importance for us to recall what love is.  It's not just a feeling.  It is an action.   Love is not just something we feel, it is something we do.

For those persons in our lives whom we love, remember we aren't completely loving them if we're just feeling love for them but aren't SHOWing them love.

Show love while you can.

Love is a verb.
